New Starts!

Whoa! And you know the end of summer is here. Schools in,the kids are getting bigger by the second, and we got to reconnect after one busy summer!! Thanks to all of you who came out for our Boll Weevil social night! An even bigger thank you to Curran and Carolyn for offering up their house be where the kiddos did hang time (supervised of course, we left the duct tape at our house ..thanks Cole and Mahailia!)
So what next?? We will be diving into the new study right after the fun 3-day weekend! It is called Foundations. It will be a video based study that we will have topics of discussion following. And we will have the gavel (thanks Debbie!) ........so one of you wonderful friends of ours can use it to keep Dave and I straight. Any takers on gavel duty?? We will be emailing out the info for that particular Friday :) ROCK ON! Have a SUPER day!

Hope all of you had a wonderful Fourth!!

fifth of July

Wow, summer has been super busy. I'm leaving a lot of side trips and summer fun out, but.... New developments on our end include:
No more chickens. Had a pet raccoon for one night, and the chickens disappeared. Strange. Stranger, a friend of mine from work brought two ducks over the next day. So we still have poultry, it's just that their new names are angel and poachy-min. The goofiness never stops. Also, Lana and the kids are going to California for 3 weeks, starting on the 8th. I'll be working hard for an upcoming inspection at work, so no beach life for moi :(
Additionally, Rick and I took a short hike on the trails with the kids a couple of weekends back; it was awesome and I'm looking forward to doing it again.

Prayer requests: I'm coming up on re-enlistment time, and I need some spiritual guidance.

Praises: Everything else I've requested. George is doing great. The kids are awesome. And my wife's shirt and bra blocked an errant firework from doing any real damage ( you'll have to ask her.... apparently we were supposed to take them all out of the box before lighting them.)

Love you all!

I just figured out this thing goes from bottom to top.

I'm used to having instructions... my bad.

New developments : We have chickens! There names are cutie pie and ponchy. I voted for nugget, but was over-ruled. We shall see....

Prayer requests: Continued recovery for my stepfather. Actually, this is a praise as well, as he is doing awesome so far.

Praises: As I said above, George is doing well. Additionally, my sister got a job offer as a designer for a fashion company for 3 days a week, which fits well with her plans to go back to school to become a nurse. Outstanding-ness. Oh, and one for all you mountain bikers -- I was introduced to the killer Fork Area Trails System, so I forsee a hike/mountainbike excursion sometime in the future!

Seedling

So since I am a sub-par electronic communicator and have a bad habit of transferring my train of thought directly to text ( I actually think in parentheses sometimes) it was suggested that we start a blog for the group. I'm not sure if this will help the parentheses situation, but it will make for more regular updates. Plus (and I'm a huge fan of this) it gives us the opportunity to shoot off prayer requests and praises to the group. Nothing frustrates me more than knowing I could have helped someone after the fact. (Lana just pointed out that this is not totally true, I also have deep seated issues with my belongings being strategically placed in tasteful baskets.)

This is the seed blog, so I'll try to layout a basic format. Which any of you can change at any time...

Important information: if you become members of the blog, you will get emails when it is updated, as well as be able to comment on the posts. No meeting this Friday June 5th, though we would love to have a game or dinner night sometime in the week.

Developments in the Coon household include: Building a chicken tractor. For birds. It's worth googling. If anyone happens to have a nest box they don't want, we will take it off your hands.

Prayer requests on our behalf include: My stepdad, George, had prostate surgery! All went well, and he's recovering while watching every John Wayne movie ever made in chronological order. Honestly, I'm more worried about a fatal overdose of The Duke than anything else, but prayers for a renewed sense of vitality and virility for my wonderful stepfather would be greatly appreciated.

Praises: Everything, including all of you. *hugs*
